for telecom service providers to achieve
an integrated fault management as well
as performance management. INMS allows
operators, engineers and managers to
access the system via a configurable
/ customizable graphical user interface
that comes with various functionality,
which enables the user to navigate through
various levels of the affected network
elements. The graphical user interface
can also be configured
to restrict the user’s access to
system. INMS operates through its seamless
interfaces with a number of elements which
include Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH)
Elements Management Systems, Plesio-chronous
Digital Hierarchy (PDH) Element Management
Systems (via both TCP/IP and Serial interfaces),
and Network Elements (via CORBA, SNMP, CMIP
interfaces). The gateways and their associated
agents in each interface are also configured
to connect to the other systems to receive
information from them.

VSM version 6.0. Project objective
is to have a single Integrated Network
Management System solution rather
than separate, isolated management
applications to handle multiple vendors
and multiple technologies.
